Keeping Our Focus On Jesus! By Nanyamka Boyer
Good day my beloved brother or sister in Christ. It is my prayer that this writing finds you full of faith, joy, peace, health and happiness in our Sweet Savior and Lord, Jesus Christ, the Lily of the Valleys and of our valleys in life. On this day let us remember to stay focused on our Lord, God and Savior and not on the things that are happening around us in the world and in our lives or circumstances, which are temporal. For the Lord is in control of all of those things and is not tired, weak or weary, but is mighty and strong. And has promised us in His Word in Isaiah 26:3 "Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee."
Let us also remember that the things on earth are temporal and not eternal and are only for a season. And as all seasons must pass, so will the trial of our faith and whatsoever it is that is happening in our lives and will be happening all around us in this world. For remember what our beloved and wise King Solomon wrote in Ecclesiastes 3:1-8 that: "To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven: A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted; A time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up; A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance; A time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing; A time to get, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away; A time to rend, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak; A time to love, and a time to hate; a time of war, and a time of peace."
And as our Sweet Lord Jesus says through our beloved brother Paul the Apostle in 2 Corinthians 4:18, so let us agree. "While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal." So let us always remember that whatsoever it is that we are going through and what we are seeing around us, will soon pass.
But let us instead keep our spiritual eyes, hearts and minds stayed on Jesus, our Sweet Savior and upon our heavenly home. For that should be our focus and our daily goal and not this world and the things of the world, or our troubles, for that can become an idol, as the Lord has told me. As these things do not feed our spirits, nourish our souls, strengthen our spirits, faith and our walk in and with God and have no eternal value. For when we look at those things that are happening in our lives and in this world that are negative, we get discouraged, lose our faith, get depressed and oppressed by the enemy of our souls.
But when we keep our eyes, hearts and thoughts on Jesus and upon our heavenly home, we get encouraged, strengthened and become determined to go on, to follow Him and to serve Him, without wanting to give up on Him. And this is the Lord's will for us, for He does not wants us to worry especially about the things that we cannot change. For remember what He tells us in the Gospel of Matthew in Matthew 6:27-34 that: "Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature? And why take ye thought for raiment? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin: And yet I say unto you, That even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which to day is, and to morrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith? Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed? (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things. But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and His righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof."
So let this be our daily reminder and also of what it's written in Philippians 3:20-21 where the Apostle Paul wrote: "For our conversation is in heaven; from whence also we look for the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ: who shall change our vile body, that it may be fashioned like unto His glorious body, according to the working whereby He is able even to subdue all things unto Himself."
So for those of you who are troubled, remember this promise that is given unto us by the Lord through the Apostle Paul in 2 Thessalonians 1:7-9 "And to you who are troubled rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with His mighty angels, In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ: who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of His power."
Go with God, have a blessed week and remain strong in your faith and in your walk with Him, for this what you are now going through will all be over soon and will be wrapped up and all things, including people will be put in their rightful place. So hold on to your faith and daily keep your eyes upon God, through His Son Jesus Christ, so you can overcome as He also did for you and I, so we may also obtain the victory in Him and through Him! God bless you and go in His peace that surpasses all understanding.
