Abiding In The Rest Of The Lord! By Nanyamka Boyer
Good day to you my beloved brother or sister in our Blessed, Faithful, Savior and Lord Jesus Christ, our Comfort and Strength, especially in times of great darkness. May this devotion find you healthy (both spiritually and physically), focused on the Lord and on Heaven, our home and resting place. For as Christians, as we stay focused on the Lord and on His Kingdom, we dwell in His Heavenly realm, rest and peace. Knowing that all things that are happening and are in this world are temporal and not eternal, whether good or evil, as it is written by the Lord, through the Apostle Paul in 2 Corinthians 4:18 "While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal." And also in Ecclesiastes 3:1-8, the Lord reminds me to write unto you: "To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven: A time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up; A time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing; A time to get, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away; A time to rend, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak; A time to love, and a time to hate; a time of war, and a time of peace." For these are those times.
So as we go through this time period in our lives of so much unrest, as the Lord's beloved people, let us continue to hold on to our faith and to God's unchanging hand and let Him, see us and take us through these dark days, remembering that He is and will remain in full control of what is happening, throughout the whole world. For remember that the battle belongs to Him, as He says through Jahaziel in 2 Chronicles 20:14-17 "Then upon Jahaziel the son of Zechariah, the son of Benaiah, the son of Jeiel, the son of Mattaniah, a Levite of the sons of Asaph, came the Spirit of the LORD in the midst of the congregation; And he said, Hearken ye, all Judah, and ye inhabitants of Jerusalem, and thou king Jehoshaphat, Thus saith the LORD unto you, Be not afraid nor dismayed by reason of this multitude; for the battle is not yours, but God's." For He has a purpose for what He is allowing to happen in this world, through Satan, for as we just read in Ecclesiastes 3:1 "To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven..." And that purpose that King Solomon speaks about is of God.
On this day let us also remember to remain in the rest of the Lord or be relaxed peacefully in Him, as we go and live through life in this world, as pilgrims of God. For we are just passing through the school of life, getting purified, sanctified and learning the lessons of God in our lives in order for us to make it to heaven, being pure and holy made in the full image of God, spiritually, as the Lord is. For remember that without holiness, no man shall see the Lord, as it is written in Hebrews 12:14-15"Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord: looking diligently lest any man fall of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you, and thereby many be defiled;"
For as Christians, there's no need for us to be fearful and without rest spiritually, when we are saved by the Lord and He provides us His rest and grace to see us through life and trials and tribulations. For we know that our times are in His hands, as our beloved King David wrote in Psalm 31:15-16 "My times are in thy hand: deliver me from the hand of mine enemies, and from them that persecute me. Make thy face to shine upon thy servant; save me for thy mercies' sake." And as the Lord is with us and on our side, He will see us through life, fight our battles and give us the victory, for He is a God who cannot lie, lose nor fail, as He has told me. And if He overcame and defeated Satan, at the Cross, know that He will also overcome and defeat him all over again in us, for us and through us! For this is why He says and promises us in the Gospel of John in John 16:33 "These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world (for if He overcame, so will we, through Him!)."
So let us have faith or the faith of Jesus and believe that: "all things are possible with God and to them that believe in Him," as He says in Mark 9:23 "Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth." Also in Mark 10:27 "And Jesus looking upon them saith, With men it is impossible, but not with God; for with God all things are possible." And in Matthew 19:26 "But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible." And that the Lord has the world in His Big hands and there's no need to fear, because He greatly loves us, cares for us and about us and always makes a way of escape for us, His beloved Saints. For remember that fear has torment, but perfect love or as we are perfected in the Lord's love for us, it will cast out fear, as the Lord through the Apostle John says in 1 John 4:18 "There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love."
Have a blessed, peaceful and joyous week, filled to overflowing with the Holy Spirit, for He is our joy, peace, strength, both spiritually and physically. And remember to daily let the Lord carry you in His Loving arms and through life, without you resisting or doubting His great love for you. And as the Lord says in Psalm 37:7 "Rest in the LORD, and wait patiently for Him: fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way, because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass." And in Isaiah 41:14-18 "Fear not, thou worm Jacob, and ye men of Israel; I will help thee, saith the LORD, and thy redeemer, the Holy One of Israel. Behold, I will make thee a new sharp threshing instrument having teeth; thou shalt thresh the mountains, and beat them small, and shalt make the hills as chaff. Thou shalt fan them, and the wind shall carry them away, and the whirlwind shall scatter them: and thou shalt rejoice in the LORD, and shalt glory in the Holy One of Israel. When the poor and needy seek water, and there is none, and their tongue faileth for thirst, I the LORD will hear them, I the God of Israel will not forsake them. I will open rivers in high places, and fountains in the midst of the valleys: I will make the wilderness a pool of water, and the dry land springs of water." Blessed be His holy name, for even in the darkness, God is Light, pure light in whom there is no shadow of turning, as it is written in James 1:17 "Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning."
