Being Grateful To The Lord In The Dark Times By Nanyamka Boyer
Good day to you my beloved brother or sister in our Wonderful and Faithful Savior and Lord Jesus Christ, our El-Shaddai and Strong Tower. It is my prayer that this devotion finds you well and strong in your spirit and walk with God, as He alone is our Provider and Source of Life in this world and will continue to provide for us and to take care of us until He calls us home to Him in Heaven. For remember that just as He provided for the Nation of Israel, when they were in the wilderness for those forty years, as we read in the Books of Exodus and Numbers, so will He continue to provide for us, both spiritually and physically.
For with our God, a Saint will never be poor or in want of anything that he or she needs, but will always be rich in His love, joy, mercy, health both spiritually and physically, and have the daily provisions that the physical body needs, as our beloved brother and King David wrote in Psalm 23:1-6 "The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: He leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for His name's sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil: my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever."
For there's no need to walk in fear in this world, for worrying about what we will eat and drink, and wear is abiding in a spirit of fear and not in the Lord, as we are called to do. For remember that the Lord keeps him or her in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on Him, as we are told by the Lord's mighty Prophet Isaiah in Isaiah 26:3-4 "Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee. Trust ye in the Lord for ever: for in the LORD JEHOVAH is everlasting strength:" But we must remember to daily ask Him for guidance, for our daily needs, study His Word, keep His Commandments and apply His Word and Wisdom in our lives, through His Holy Spirit in order for us to not be in lack of our daily needs, both spiritually and physically, but especially spiritually, for our eternity in heaven is more important than this temporal world.
So let us first do and also remember what our Lord commands us in His Word in order for us to be successful, both spiritually and physically in this world, as we read in the Gospel of Matthew in Matthew 6:33-34 "But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and His righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof." So be not fearful, but continue to have faith and to trust in the Lord for your daily needs, for as He has not failed you in the past in providing your daily needs, He will not do so now, especially as we are in these last days and greatly need Him to be with us and to help us.
On this day let us also remember to be grateful to our Loving God for His faithfulness to us at all times, especially during times of testings, trials and tribulations and of great spiritual darkness in our lives and in this world and not just in times of joy and peace. For remember that the light and the darkness or the night and the day are both alike unto Him, as our beloved brother King David understood and wrote in Psalm 139:12 "Yea, the darkness hideth not from thee; but the night shineth as the day: the darkness and the light are both alike to thee."
For the Lord has kept His promises to us even in times of darkness, as He promised in 1 Kings 8:12 "Then spake Solomon, The LORD said that He would dwell in the thick darkness." And has not failed us nor forsaken us, but has lifted us and our spirits up and brought us out from our darkness, comforted us and restored our joy. For His joy has also been and will continue to be our strength to sustain us until the end, as we continue to abide in Him, as it is written in the Book of Nehemiah in Nehemiah 8:10 "Then he said unto them, Go your way, eat the fat, and drink the sweet, and send portions unto them for whom nothing is prepared: for this day is holy unto our Lord: neither be ye sorry; for the joy of the LORD is your strength." For our Awesome and Powerful God is a God of the valleys and of the hills or of our darkest and lowest times in our lives and of the top of the mountains of success, both spiritually and physically, as He promises in 1 Kings 20:28 "And there came a man of God and spake unto the king of Israel, and said, Thus saith the LORD, because the Syrians have said, The LORD is God of the hills, but He is not God of the valleys, therefore will I deliver all this great multitude into thine hand, and ye shall know that I am the LORD."
For our Almighty God is worthy to be praised, worshiped, admired and adored, for He has supplied unto us all of our needs according to His riches in glory through Christ Jesus our Lord, as He promised us that He will daily do, as we abide in Him, through His mighty Apostle Paul in Philippians 4:19 "But my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus." So let us remember this Thanksgiving Day to thank the Lord for His amazing grace, love, provisions and faithfulness toward us all the year long, especially in these times of great darkness that we are living in, when His Word has been tested and proven faithful to us. And we have seen His Loving Hand and Bright Light, as He is the Bright and Morning Star, and Light of this world and in this world and has given us His Word to guide us and see us through life, as this world is filled with great darkness spiritually.
For remember that His Word is a lamp unto our feet and a light unto our path, as we read in Psalm 119:105 "Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path." For He has also promised us to carry our burdens, as we give them unto Him in prayer, as we read in Psalm 55:22 "Cast thy burden upon the LORD, and He shall sustain thee: He shall never suffer the righteous to be moved." Also our sorrows, to never leave us nor forsake us, hold us tight and not let us go, especially when we need Him and His help the most in our lives, as He promises us in the Gospel of John in John 10:28-29 "And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand."
Go with God, have a blessed, joyful and peaceful Thanksgiving Day and remember to thank Him for being the anchor of your soul and of your life, especially in your darkest hour or season in your life, for also being the Sweet Lover of your soul and Faithful Loving Savior. And as the Prophet Isaiah wrote and we read earlier in Isaiah 26:4, so also daily do! "Trust ye in the LORD for ever: for in the LORD JEHOVAH is everlasting strength." And also praise and bless the Lord, as King David did throughout his lifetime and wrote in Psalm 103:1-5 "Bless the LORD, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless His holy name. Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all His benefits: Who forgiveth all thine iniquities, who healeth all thy diseases; Who redeemeth thy life from destruction; who crowneth thee with lovingkindness and tender mercies; Who satisfieth thy mouth with good things; so that thy youth is renewed like the eagle's." Blessed be His holy name now and forever more! Amen!
