Do Not Resist Evil! By Nanyamka Boyer
Good day to you my beloved brother or sister in our Strong Refuge and Hiding Place from our storms of life, our Blessed, Beloved, Savior and Lord Jesus Christ. It is my prayer that on this day, this blog finds you and your loved ones healthy and strong in your walk with the Lord, for as it is written in His Word and as I hear Him remind me, so I can relay it to you, what He says in Zechariah 4:6 "Then He answered and spake unto me, saying, This is the word of the LORD unto Zerubbabel, saying, Not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit, saith the LORD of hosts." For it is the Spirit of the Lord who enables us to walk in Him daily, remain healthy (both spiritually and physically), strong in our faith and walk with Him. And as we face trials and tribulations in this world, let us remember that the Lord loves us, is still with us and has the world and our lives in His mighty hands, as He promises us through our beloved brother King David in Psalm 31:15 "My times are in thy hand: deliver me from the hand of mine enemies, and from them that persecute me." So know that your existence in this world is not by chance or out of His reach and control in your life. So have faith or the faith of God that Jesus would have and remain strong in your faith and daily walk with God!
On this day let us also remember to do not resist evil, but give into it, by turning the other cheek, when people hurt us physically and persecute us, as the Lord commands us and tells us in the Gospel of Matthew in Matthew 5:39 "But I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also." For Jesus, when He was greatly persecuted, punched and reviled (or criticized in an abusive or angrily insulting manner), reviled and fought not again, but instead committed Himself to the Father, and yielded to His will, as it says in 1 Peter 2:23 "Who, when He was reviled, reviled not again; when He suffered, He threatened not; but committed Himself to Him (God the Father) that judgeth righteously."
For by fighting back does not bring honor to the Lord, as we are Christians and are called to represent Him, walk as He walked on earth 2,000 years ago and obey His Commandments. And only makes matters worse for us, as we are only fighting in the flesh and the Lord cannot help us, when we take matters into our own hands. For we must fight only in the spirit, through prayer and let the Lord handle our battles, for remember that He promises us that the battle belongs to Him, as He says through His servant Jahaziel, who was a Levite of the sons of Asaph, in 2 Chronicles 20:15 "And he said, Hearken ye, all Judah, and ye inhabitants of Jerusalem, and thou king Jehoshaphat, Thus saith the LORD unto you, Be not afraid nor dismayed by reason of this great multitude: for the battle is not yours, but God's."
And that vengeance belong to the Lord alone and not to us, as He says in Deuteronomy 32:35-36 "To me belongeth vengeance and recompence; their foot shall slide in due time: for the day of their calamity is at hand, and the things that shall come upon them make haste. For the LORD shall judge His people, and repent Himself for His servants, when He seeth that their power is gone, and there is none shut up, or left." And also through the Apostle Paul, the Lord says for us to follow in Romans 12:17-19 "Recompense to no man evil for evil. Provide things honest in the sight of all men. If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men. Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord."
For when we let the Lord fight our battles we have the deliverance from Him that we need, handle things with His meekness and wisdom, and also imitate Him, as His beloved Apostle Peter says and the Lord through Him commands us to do in 1 Peter 2:20-22 "For what glory is it, if, when ye be buffeted for your faults, ye shall take it patiently? but if, when ye do well, and suffer for it, ye take it patiently, this is acceptable with God. For even hereunto where ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow His steps: Who did not sin, neither was guile found in His mouth:"
Let us also remember to ask the Lord for the grace to partake in His sufferings, when we go through our trials and tribulation. For as we share in His suffering, we relate to Him and become more like Him, pure and without sin, as the sin that is still in us is being burned off, as we go through the spiritual fire.
Go with God, have a blessed, peaceful and joyous week and as our beloved brother King David says in Psalm 109:28 "Let them curse, but bless thou: when they arise, let them be ashamed: but let thy servant rejoice." So let us also agree and proclaim out loud, for who can be against us, when the Lord is with us and is for us? As Paul the Apostle said in Romans 8:31 "What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?" For remember that the Lord will test us and our love for Him, will also only allow us to go through what He would have us go through, and it will be no more and no less of what He has ordained. Blessed be His holy name, for the devil, including through his own children cannot just touch us as they please, without the Lord's approval. For all things, first go through Him, as all things were created, are by Him, for Him and through Him, as Paul the Apostle says in Colossians 1:16-17 "For by Him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by Him, and for Him: And He is before all things, and by Him all things consist."
