Drawing Near Unto God By Nanyamka Boyer
Good day to you my beloved brother or sister in Christ, our Wonderful Shepherd and All-wise God. It is my prayer that this devotion and this day finds you hopeful, joyful and peaceful in the Lord. For as we abide in the Lord we are not in want or in lack of our spiritual and physical needs in life, as our beloved brother and mighty King David understood about the Lord in his lifetime and wrote it in Psalm 23:1 "The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want."
For our cup overflows with blessings, so that we can also be a blessing unto others, the homeless, poor, orphans and widows, especially to our brothers and sisters in Christ, as we read in Psalm 23:5 "Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over." And as you seek the Lord for your daily needs, remember to wait on Him and not give up, as you wait for Him to come through for you with the answers to your prayers, for the Lord loves persistence and is working in you His patience and long-suffering, as they are one of His character traits and it is as it is written by His brother James in James 1:4-8 "But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing."
And remember that those who wait upon the Lord will also inherit the land, as He promises us in Psalm 37:9 "For evil doers shall be cut off: but they that wait upon the LORD, they shall inherit the earth." So continue to wait upon Him, for your walk and faithfulness in the Lord is always honored and rewarded by the Lord and is not ignored nor forgotten.
On this day let us remember to draw nigh or close to the Lord, so He can draw close to us, for we will always need Him. For the Lord is a God who is close at hand and not afar off and draws close to those who seek Him and love being in His presence. And as we seek Him, He will hearken unto us, when we seek His face or pray unto Him, as we are promised by Him in Jeremiah 29:12-13 "Then shall ye call upon me, and ye shall go and pray unto me, and I will hearken unto you. And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart."
And know that there will be times that we will not feel His presence near us, for He is a God who hides His face at times from us, to test us to see if we still love Him and will seek Him whether we can feel His presence near us or not. For this is also a time that He is teaching us to walk by faith and not by sight nor by our emotions, but by what He has taught us in His Word. For we already know that He is an Omnipresent God and is always with us, by His Holy Spirit. So remain persistent in your seeking Him, whether you feel His presence near you or not and do not doubt His love and companionship in your life, for remember that one of His names is also Jehovah Shammah or the Lord is there or the Lord my companion.
Go with God, have a peaceful, joyous and blessed week, remembering that the Lord is a God who abides with the lowly in heart and not with the proud, as He says in Isaiah 57:15 "For thus saith the high and lofty One that inhabiteth eternity, whose name is Holy, I dwell in the high and holy place, with him also that is contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite ones (or broken one)." So the Lord will always be with you as remain humble, especially when your heart is broken. Blessed be His holy name, for being a God who greatly cares about us.
