Dying To Self Daily By Nanyamka Boyer
Good day my beloved brother or sister in our Blessed, Faithful, Savior and Lord Jesus Christ, our only Hope and Light in this world. It is my prayer that this devotion finds you healthy and strong spiritually and physically in the Lord, you and your loved ones, as it is not fun being sick either spiritually or physically. But if you are finding yourself sick whether spiritually, emotionally, mentally or physically, remember that the Lord was scourged all over His Precious body, by the Romans almost 2,000 years ago, so that you and I could find and receive the healing that our souls and bodies need. For remember that by His stripes we are and were healed, as it is written by the Lord, through our beloved brother, the Prophet Isaiah in Isaiah 53:4-5 "Surely He hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem Him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of (or for) our peace was upon Him; and with His stripes we are healed."
And confirmed and reassured us once again through His beloved Apostle, the Apostle Peter in 1 Peter 2:24 "Who His own self bare our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed." So have faith in the Lord or as the Lord would say to us: "have the faith of God that moves and can mountains!" And be not fearful, but believing that He loves you greatly and is in full control of your life and situations, as you daily follow Him and let Him be your Savior, Lord and God in your life. And as you wait for Him to heal you spiritually or physically, remember that His grace is enough to see us through anything that we will ever go through in this world, and that He will come to strengthen our hearts, as He promises us in Psalm 27:14, through our beloved brother King David: "Wait on the LORD: be of good courage, and He shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the LORD." So continue to be strong, hang on to your hope and faith in God, also to wait upon Him and not give up!
On this day let us remember that as Christians, we must die daily to the flesh and not let it live or control our souls and lives, as it was already defeated and crucified with Jesus at the Cross, when we were born again. For this is why the Apostle Paul understood and let us know that he was crucified with Christ, and that he no longer lived, but the life that he now lived in the flesh or in his body, he lived by the faith of the Son of God, who loved him and gave Himself for him and for us, through the Lord who lived in him, by His Holy Spirit, as we read in Galatians 2:20 "I am crucified with Christ; nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave Himself for me."
For to be carnally minded results in death or to live in the flesh, by following the dictates of the mind of the flesh, which are the fruits of the flesh that we read by the Lord, through the Apostle Paul in Galatians 5:16-21 "This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh. For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would. But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law. Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God."
And also to be right in our own eyes, results in death spiritually here on earth, by us going through unnecessary sufferings and in hell, for living in sin and for serving sin, as we also read in Proverbs 14:12 "There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death." And in Proverbs 16:25, the Lord repeats it again, for our warning and remembrance: "There is a way that seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death." For remember that the wages of sin is death, as we also read in Romans 6:23 "For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord."
For as He also says through the Apostle Paul in Romans 8:6-8 "For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be. So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God." So let us also remember, for we must daily be as Jesus is and was, when He prayed to the Father in the Garden of Gethsemane, by yielding to Him after He prayed for the Father to take the cup of suffering away from Him, which was the false judgment of the Pharisees and Sadducees that He was about to face, during His trial, scourging and crucifixion on the Cross, as He yielded to the Father's will. So this He asked the Father to advert and now wants us to follow in His example of doing the Father's will, as it costs us in our flesh and earthly life to follow Him and yield to His will or daily Commandments, through His Holy Spirit. And also say in our hearts to Him what He said: "Not my will, but thine be done," as we read in the Gospel of Luke in Luke 22:41-42 "And He was withdrawn from them about a stone's cast, and kneeled down, and prayed, Saying, Father if thou be willing, remove this cup from me: nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done."
And this is why the Lord tells us in the Gospel of Matthew that he that saves his life, whether spiritually in this world or physically, to save it from dying, will lose it, but he that loses it for His sake will find it, as we read in Matthew 16:24-25 "Then said Jesus unto His disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me. For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it."
And as I hear the Lord say, so I can give it to you what He says: "It will cost you everything to follow me." So let us daily yield to the Lord even when life and no-thing makes sense to us, for remember that we must daily walk by faith and not by sight and go by the Lord's truth or by what His Word says to us and about that situation in our lives. For remember that the just will live because of and by his faith, as we read in Habakkuk 2:4 "Behold, his soul which is lifted up is not upright in him: but the just shall live by (and also because of) his faith."
For remember that the Lord's ways are higher than our ways and are not our ways, and His thoughts higher than our thoughts, as He tells us in Isaiah 55:8-9 "For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts."
Go with God, have a wonderful, blessed, joyous and peaceful week, remembering that if you are willing and obedient to obey and follow the Lord daily, you will eat the good of His land here on earth and in heaven. And that the Lord, through His Faithful and Mighty Holy Spirit will grant you the grace and the strength that you need and will need to daily yield to Him and to follow His Commandments or will for your life. For remember that He promises us in Zechariah 4:6, that is not by might, nor by power, but by His Spirit that He accomplishes His will in this world, including living Jesus' life in us, for us and through us, the born again believer in Him, so we can make it and not fall away.
For He is a strong God and has never failed before and will not fail us now, especially, as we are in these last days and greatly need Him. So thank Him and daily bless His holy name, even in the darkness, as He remains faithful to us! "Then He answered and spake unto me, saying, This is the word of the LORD unto Zerubbabel, saying, Not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit, saith the LORD of hosts."
Remember to also walk in love or to love one another, to give each other the benefit of the doubt, pray also for one another, as we daily need each other's prayers, and as the Lord commands us to do in His Word.
