The Lord Jesus: Our Advocate! By Nanyamka Boyer
Good day my beloved brother and sister in our Beloved Faithful and Lord Jesus Christ, our Prince of Peace! It is my prayer that this blog post finds you healthy, strong and abiding in our Wonderful Counselor and Lord Jesus Christ, our Great I Am! For in Him alone we will always find hope, strength, salvation and all we could ever need to make it in and through this world. For as He promises us and it is written by our beloved brother Paul the Apostle in Philippians 4:19 "But my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus."
And as the Lord Jesus reminds me now of this Word, so I can give it unto you, in which He says in John 16:24 "Hitherto have ye asked nothing in my name: ask, and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full." So if you find yourself in lack, ask the Lord to supply you that need or that want according to His will for your life and don't be shy or feel unworthy of His blessings, for our God is loving, caring, faithful and is more than enough. For remember that He owns the cattle on a thousand hills, and that the silver and the gold is His, as He says by our beloved King David in Psalm 50:10-11 "For every beast of the forest is mine, and the cattle upon a thousand hills. I know all the fowls of the mountains: and the wild beasts of the field are mine." And by the Prophet Haggai in Haggai 2:8 "The silver is mine, and the gold is mine, saith the LORD of hosts."
On this day let us remember that the Lord Jesus Christ is also our Advocate or our Lawyer before our Heavenly Father, God Almighty! For when we need an intercessor in our behalf, as an Attorney, the Lord stands in the gap or in our behalf before the Father, and pleads our case, so that we are not judged, as we deserve and receive the answer to our prayers. For when Jesus prays in our behalf to the Father, it is finished. For this is why the Lord is also the Way to the Father and commands us to pray in His name, so that not only His name is our mediator before the Father, but Himself also, as we give Him that problem that we want Him to deliver us from and then He gives it to the Father. For remember that He is also our High Priest, who is touched with our infirmities or weaknesses, as it is written in Hebrews 4:14-16 "Seeing then that we have a great high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin. Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need." So seek Him, so you can find in Him what you are in need of and are looking for, as He says in Matthew 7:7 "Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened." And in Jeremiah 29:12-13 "Then shall ye call upon me, and ye shall go and pray unto me, and I will hearken unto you. And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart."
Let us also remember that the Lord, when He was arrested and taken to Caiphas, the High Priest of His time, to Pontius Pilate, the Governor of Judea, also to Herod Antipas, who greatly mocked Him, was beaten, scourged, condemned and crucified on the Cross and that He was all alone. For God the Father Himself was no longer with Him, because He (Jesus) became sin for us, who knew no sin, so we could become the righteousness of God in Him, as it is written in 2 Corinthians 5:21 "For He (God the Father) made Him (Jesus) to be sin for us, who knew no sin, that we might be made the righteousness of God in Him (or in Jesus)." For the Father, could not look upon Jesus at that time, as He is holy and cannot look upon sin, as sin separates us from Him. For this is why He called upon Him (God the Father) and asked Him, why did He forsake Him, as it is written in the gospels of Matthew and in Mark. This we read first in Matthew 27:46 "And about the ninth hour (or 3 p.m.) Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eli, Eli, la-masa-bach-tha-ni? that is to say, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?" And in Mark 15:34 "And at the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, E-loi, -E-loi, la-ma sa-bach-tha-ni? which is, being interpreted, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?"
But the Lord did not leave us without hope and alone, for He send us the Comforter, His Holy and Faithful Holy Spirit and has promised that He is and will always be with us, even unto the end of the world, as He says in Matthew 28:20 "Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen." And in Hebrews 13:5 "Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for He hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee." And in Proverbs 18:24, we read that there is a friend that sticks to us closer than a brother, and we know that that One true friend is Jesus, our Elder Brother and Sweet Lover of our souls! "A man that hath friends must shew himself friendly: and there is a friend that sticketh closer than a brother."
So let us daily remember that when we go through things in life, we are not alone. Also that the Lord is the One who intercedes for us in our behalf before the Father, so that we are not judged as we deserve, when we sin against Him, willfully and un-willfully, as He is our Lawyer in God's courtroom. Let us also remember that He prays for the answers to our prayers to come through, when they are according to His will for our lives or are for our spiritual and physical benefit. And also that His great sufferings on His way and to the Cross for us was not in vain and we must never forget and take for granted, for it greatly cost Him, including His very life! And although He was left all alone, by His disciples and God the Father, for our sake, so He could fully pay the penalty of sin, which is death, when He was arrested, taken to trial and crucified, He will never allow us to be left alone, not even for a second. And also as we go through our own valleys of the shadow of death in our lives, He will continue to remain faithful and close to us always, especially when we need Him and His help the most. For He is a God who cares and greatly understands all things, including our need for and of Him in our lives. Blessed be His holy name!
So go with God have a blessed and wonderful rest of the week. And remember that in the world we will have tribulation, as the Lord says in John 16:33 "These things have I spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world." And as He overcame so will we, as we daily abide in Him and He continues to stay by our side to give us His strength, wisdom, knowledge, understanding, discernment and all we could ever need in this world, both spiritually and physically to help us make it and will never leave us. For in this world we will never be able to find a true faithful friend, wonderful and wise counselor, as we can only find in and with the Lord Jesus Christ, our Prince of Peace and Beloved Mighty God!
