The Lord Our Security! By Nanyamka Boyer
Good day my beloved brother or sister in our Loving, Faithful Savior and Lord, Jesus Christ, our Mighty God and Hiding Place. It is my prayer that this blog finds you courageous, faithful and looking up to Jesus the author and finisher of our faith, for your needs to be met in your life and not in your own or anyone else's arm of the flesh to sustain you. For remember what the Lord says in Jeremiah 17:5 "Thus saith the LORD; Cursed be the man that trusteth in man, and maketh flesh his arm, and whose heart departeth from the LORD." For as Christians we are not a people that are without hope and depend upon man to sustain us, but upon the Lord Jesus Christ, our Savior!
On this day let us remember that the Lord alone is and needs to be our security and not man, and our wealth. For this is what the wealth of the rich is to them, their strong city or security, as we read in Proverbs 10:15 "The rich man's wealth is his strong city: the destruction of the poor is their poverty." And also in Proverbs 18:11, the Lord repeats Himself through King Solomon, for our remembrance and understanding: "The rich man's wealth is his strong city, and as an high wall in his own conceit." For as the Lord reminds me to give you this scripture, so we don't set our hearts upon wealth or material things in which He says in Proverbs 23:5 "Wilt thou set thine eyes upon that which is not? for riches certainly make themselves wings; they fly away as an eagle toward heaven." And this is also why the Lord has told me: "to hold the things of the world loosely in our hands," for no-thing and no one in this world lasts forever, but our souls only, as we are eternal living souls.
Remember that the Lord is also a God who gives and takes away, as Job the servant of God understood, when he wrote it in Job 1:20-21, after the Lord send the devil to test him and took away all of his blessings, including his beloved ten children. "Then Job arose, and rent his mantle, and shaved his head, and fell down upon the ground, and worshipped, And said, Naked came I out of my mother's womb, and naked shall I return thither: the LORD gave, and the LORD hath taken away; blessed be the name of the LORD."
So let Him be your security and not His blessings, for although the Lord takes away (to the believer in Christ) our blessings sometimes to test our faith in Him, He is also a God of restoration, as He did with Job, when He restored him all of his blessings and gave him more children, as we read in Job 42:12-17 "So the LORD blessed the latter end of Job more than his beginning: for he had fourteen thousand sheep, and six thousand camels, and a thousand yoke of oxen, and a thousand she asses. He had also seven sons and three daughters. And he called the name of the first, Je-mi-ma; and the name of the second, Kezia; and the name of the third, Kerenhappuch. And in all the land were no women found so fair as the daughters of Job: and their father gave them inheritance among their brethren. After this lived Job an hundred and forty years, and saw his sons, and his son's sons, even four generations. So Job died, being old and full of days."
Go with God, have a blessed, peaceful and joyous day and week. And remember that the Lord is always with us as we pass through the waters and spiritual fire in our lives, as He promises us in one of my favorite scriptures in which He says in Isaiah 43:2 "When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee." For remember that as one of His names also is called: Jehovah Shammah, which means the Lord is there, so is He with us daily! Blessed be His holy name!
